Seven simple steps

How it works

No experience needed. The same seven steps are on the printed card, with a video guide at namikw.com/start.

  1. Prepare the fish

Rinse and pat the fish completely dry. Lay it flat and spread the fins.

  2. Apply the ink

Mix the squid ink in the ceramic dish with the stir stick, then brush it on with the large brush, against the scales.

  3. Remove excess ink

Use the fine brush and cotton dabber to lift pooled ink so the detail stays sharp.

  4. Place the paper

Lay a washi sheet over the fish in one smooth movement.

  5. Press gently

Press with your fingertips from the centre outward, over every fin and scale.

  6. Peel head to tail

Lift the paper slowly from head to tail to reveal your print.

  7. Dry and finish

Let it dry, paint in the eye with the fine brush, and add a name and date.

How do I pay?
